Where to Start
- Select the School Progress tab.
- Select the desired District/Campus and Accountability Year to view School Progress data for.
The District/Campus and Accountability Year options can be changed at any time while viewing the School Progress page to compare and contrast data from different sites and academic years.
District View
The first visual displayed on the School Progress page is Domain 2: School Progress. This displays a donut chart of the overall projected score for Domain 2, including the projected rating, numeric score out of 100, and threshold level and color.
- To learn more about how the projected Domain 2 score is determined, select How was the Domain 2 score calculated?
Calculation
- The Calculation tab is automatically selected.
The School Progress score can be calculated from two different data components, Academic Growth and Relative Performance. Scaled Scores are extrapolated from the given Raw Scores, the better of the two scores is chosen, and assigned a Projected Rating. When viewing the District data, because the District is calculated using the campuses' Scaled Scores, no Raw Scores are available for this table.
Methodology
- Select the Methodology tab to view the reasoning behind the Calculation table.
Elementary, Middle, High Schools/K-12
- The better outcome of the Academic Growth Component scaled score (Domain 2A) and Relative Performance Component scaled score (Domain 2B) is the School Progress score.
- Note that if the scaled score of one part of Domain 2 is 90-100, and the scaled score of the other part is 0-59, then the campus will receive a scaled score of 89. For AEA campuses, the better outcome of the Academic Growth Component scaled score (Domain 2A) and Retest Growth scaled score (Domain 2B) is the School Progress score.
Districts
- District domain ratings are calculated using a proportionality method. The campus weight determines how much a campus grade proportionally impacts the district rating. This methodology only considers campus enrollment counts for grades 3-12, excludes Not Rated and paired campuses, is applied to each domain, and includes campuses evaluated under alternative education accountability.
The second visual displayed on the School Progress page is Component Scores of Domain 2. This displays a bar chart of each component score that makes up Domain 2, including Academic Growth (2A) and Relative Performance (2B). If scores are not available or are null for a component, then that component will not be shown on the chart.
Scaled Scores
- The Scaled Scores tab is automatically selected.
- When viewing the District, only the Scaled Scores tab is available.
- Hover the cursor over any of the chart bars to view a text popup of the component and the score represented.
The third visual displayed on the School Progress page is the Academic Growth Component Score (Domain 2A) card, which is based on answering the question, "Are students improving in Reading and Math from year to year?" This displays a donut chart of the Academic Growth Component Score, including a numeric score out of 100, and the criteria for how that score is calculated.
Overview
- The Overview tab is automatically selected.
- An explanation of how the Academic Growth Component Score is calculated is provided.
- The Academic Growth Component score (Domain 2A) of the School Progress domain measures progress of students in Reading and Mathematics. It gives credit to district/campuses whose students who meet the student level criteria for the STAAR Progress measure or maintain proficiency.
- Raw Academic Growth Component score is calculated by dividing the progress points earned by total possible progress points. The raw Academic Growth Component score is adjusted to a scaled score, and this score is used to determine the accountability score.
Score Computation
- Select the Score Computation tab to view a table displaying the data used to determine the District-wide Academic Growth Component Score. Each contributing Campus is listed, with the associated School Progress 2A Scaled Score, Weight percentage, and the calculated Weighted Points. These are then calculated into the District School Progress 2A Score and Projected Rating.
The fourth visual displayed on the School Progress page is the Relative Performance Component Score (Domain 2B) card, which is based on answering the question, "Are students progressing relative to students in districts or campuses with similar economically disadvantaged percentages?" This displays a donut chart of the Relative Performance Component Score, including a numeric score out of 100, and the criteria for how that score is calculated.
Overview
- The Overview tab is automatically selected.
- An explanation of how the Relative Performance Component (Domain 2B) is calculated is provided.
- The Relative Performance Component (Domain 2B) score of the School Progress domain measures the achievement of students relative to districts or campuses with similar economically disadvantaged percentages.
- Raw Relative Performance Component score is either the raw Student Achievement STAAR Component score or the average of the raw Student Achievement STAAR and CCMR Component scores. The raw Relative Performance Component score is adjusted to a scaled score, and this score is used to determine the accountability score.
Score Computation
- Select the Score Computation tab to view a table displaying the data used to determine the District-wide Relative Performance Component Score. Each contributing Campus is listed, with the associated School Progress 2B Scaled Score, Weight percentage, and the calculated Weighted Points. These are then calculated into the District School Progress 2B Score and Projected Rating.

This displays a donut chart of the Relative Performance Component Score, including a numeric score out of 100, and the criteria for how that score is calculated.
Overview
- The Overview tab is automatically selected.
- An explanation of how the Relative Performance Component (Domain 2B) is calculated is provided.
