This lesson reviews the Configure Campuses tab under the Settings menu on the TXPRO app. Admin users with the appropriate role permissions can use this page to configure campuses as AEA and/or Not Rated.

Some campuses in Texas, or sometimes the entire district or charter, are self-proclaimed Alternative Education Campuses (AECs). Most times these are campuses that have a high "at-risk" enrollment, such as residential facilities, juvenile centers, dropout recovery schools, etc. Such campuses can apply to be evaluated using special provisions of the accountability model.
However, not all AECs qualify to be evaluated using these procedures. There is an approval process each year, and TEA publishes the list of AECs that qualify to be an AEA (Alternative Education Accountability) campus. Roughly 5% of campuses in Texas are evaluated using AEA procedures.
Only check the AEA box if the selected campus has been AEA approved.
To calculate the overall and domain-wise scores of AEA campuses based on the 2023 accountability model, additional data is required. When the AEA checkbox is selected for a campus, a popup window appears.
- Select the relevant Percentage range from the dropdown, indicating the percentage of Annual Graduates with RHSP/DAP/FHSP-E/FHSP-DLA Graduation Plans.
- If the campus is a Dropout Recovery School, select the toggle.
- If the AEA data for the selected campus is known and has been entered, select Save. If this AEA data is unknown for the selected campus, select I don't have this data.
- After a campus has been checked for AEA, a three dot menu appears next to the Campus Name. Select this menu to view the AEA popup menu, where data can be added and changed as necessary.
There are some specific circumstances in which a campus or district will not receive a rating label, such as when there are data integrity issues, insufficient data, natural calamities, etc. Such campuses and districts are given the label "Not Rated." They are evaluated using regular accountability procedures, but they are not given rating labels. As an example, in 2018, Houston ISD was given the label "Not Rated" because of hurricane Harvey.
The Not Rated checkbox should only be selected for campuses that have been evaluated and given a Not Rated label.
Recalculate
- Select Save & Exit to save the entered data and return to the default Settings page, Data Upload.
- Select Recalculate Now to recalculate the district scores based on the newly entered data.
- After selecting Save & Exit, a confirmation message appears. Select Save & Exit to confirm, or select Cancel to continue entering data.
- After saving, a popup message appears indicating data was saved successfully.
- After selecting Recalculate Now, a confirmation message appears. Select Recalculate Now to confirm the recalculation of accountability projections for the school district. Select Cancel to return to the Configure Campuses page without recalculating.
- After confirming the recalculation, a popup message appears indicating that the request for recalculation was submitted successfully.
- A warning message appears at the top of the page indicating, "Recalculation is in progress. It is recommended that you do not make any changes to the Settings tabs during this time." Select the X icon to hide this message.
